In selecting the land suitable for jatropha cultivation, Indogreen follows the guidelines set forth by the Indonesian Government and the European Parliament’s Directive on the promotion of use of energy from renewable sources, published on January 23, 2008. This directive requires that allowable biofuels cannot be sourced from land that is forest undisturbed by significant human activity, areas designated for nature protection purposes, highly biodiverse grassland, wetlands or continuously forested areas.

The IndoGreen team has long experience of working closely with local government and community leaders to build sustainable, profitable projects in local communities which incorporate the following benefits and principles.
- Development of sustainable farming techniques.
- Significant job creation in areas of traditionally high unemployment.
- Creation of potential new sources of income for contract farmers
- Profit sharing with local cooperatives.
- Strict observance of all labour laws and good relations with local governments.
- Company investment in local infrastructure through funding of construction of roads, schools, clinics and other necessary local facilities.
